HomeLink - Supporting Older People

HomeLink is a charity, based in Bray Co. Wicklow, which provides support service to enable older people to remain living in their own homes for longer and encourages them to get involved with other members and their communities.

HomeLink's services

  • A daily, weekly or fortnightly call service (based on a member’s preference) to alleviate the feeling of loneliness.

  • A maintenance service; organising small maintenance jobs in their homes and gardening.

  • Social activities to ensure that they meet neighbours and remain involved in their communities for longer. See HomeLink’s blog to review a list of forthcoming events.

However HomeLink is possibly best known for coordinating pendant alarms (and their grant applications) and the installation of security features such as grab rails so that its members feel more secure and safe in their own homes.

Why we were set up

HomeLink was established in May 2008 following a survey, where Bray Area Partnership identified loneliness and isolation as the two greatest concerns for people who live alone.  HomeLink operates a confidential telephone support service, arranges basic repairs and maintenance, and responds to the needs of older people, who no longer have relatives living close to them.  Hence HomeLink enables the most vulnerable in our communities to continue to live at home, shows that the community cares and gives members a greater sense of personal security.

Easi-Cab, our partner project is also based in Bray

Easi Access Transport established Easi-Cab Travel Club as a Not for Profit Irish Charity in 2002.

Easi-Cab offers an accessible transport service to people with disabilities, mobility impairments and community groups.  This service is known as an accessible, affordable and reliable transport service for people, who are unable to access public transport.  It operates from North County Wicklow and throughout Wicklow and South County Dublin.
